Southern Breeze Equestrian is owned by Jocelyn Kriss Parker, a current resident of Tappahannock, Virginia. Jocelyn grew up about 45 minutes outside of Detroit, Michigan and started riding when she was just eleven years old. After only riding for a short time, Jocelyn learned about Three-day Eventing and instantly knew that was what she wanted to do. With the support of her parents, Jocelyn became extensively involved in eventing and at age 17, she moved across the country to Florence, Alabama to train with one of the nation's top trainers, Jim Graham.
During her four years as a working student/assistant trainer with Jim, Jocelyn was chosen to represent the United States twice at the Junior Olympics, and was awarded an individual gold medal and team bronze medal. These finishes enabled her to be long-listed for the US Equestrian Team from 2004 to 2006. During this time Jocelyn trained and competed horses up to the Advanced level. After finishing her time with Jim, Jocelyn moved around the country for a few years, taking various jobs working for top event riders, competing up and coming horses and breaking and training young prospects. Due to her desire to be close to the heart of the eventing community along the East Coast, Jocelyn eventually settled in Tappahannock, Virginia, where she has started Southern Breeze Equestrian.
Southern Breeze Equestrian's goal is to offer quality training to a wide array of students as well as bring along talented young horses for eventing, dressage, and show jumping. Jocelyn has become a free-lance instructor, and travels daily through the surrounding counties riding and teaching.
Jocelyn is also a certified Pilates instructor, has her open water scuba diving certification, and has a B.S. in Global Business from Regent University.
